Guess the Guest Contest

For their 2008 con, FanimeCon is bringing in a fantastic seiyuu (“voice actor”) guest from Japan, and Yaoi-Con is teaming up with them to give one lucky person (plus a friend) a chance have breakfast with that guest. To participate, you must read the clues (found at both FanimeCon and Yaoi-Con’s Web sites) and email who you think the guest is to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it In the email, include your name and both the seiyuu's family and personal name (since some seiyuu have similar names). Since there are multiple clues, you may, of course, submit multiple guesses.

All correct guesses will be given a "virtual" raffle ticket for a drawing to be held at Yaoi-Con 2007 (limit one per person). You do not need to be present to win.

After the initial set of clues, updates will happen here on Fridays and on FanimeCon's site on Mondays. At some point during the contest, two additional random clues will be posted, one to each site, so be sure to check back frequently! And don't get discouraged if the early clues are hard -- we just didn't want to make it too easy too soon!

We will continue to post clues until 10/22/07, and emailed clues must be received by 6:00 PM PDT on 10/24/07 to be counted.

At Yaoi-Con 2007, attendees present at the close of the seiyuu panel will be allowed to submit one final guess before a FanimeCon representative reveals the name of the guest. After the reveal, the raffle drawing will be held to determine the winner of the "Guess the Guest" contest. If the winner is not present, FanimeCon will contact the winner via email. Winner must pre-register for FanimeCon to claim the prize.

And for those don't win this contest, don't fret, FanimeCon will hold a raffle at a later date to pick a second lucky winner from their pre-registered attendees. Stay tuned to their site for further details on that raffle. Plus, FanimeCon will be present at Yaoi-Con, taking registrations, if you'd like to register early.

Clue 4

Clue One: This seiyuu dubs a role in the Japanese version of 24; he says this is his favorite role to date.

Clue Two: This seiyuu had bit parts early on in a shounen anime featuring two seiyuu with whom he has also worked with on a more recent, very well-known shounen series that was released in the U.S. this year. He also played multiple roles in this second series, including perhaps his best known role to date.

Bonus Clue: He plays two characters (in different shows) referred to as tensai -- geniuses -- by the people around them, though they couldn't be more different from one another if they tried!

Clue Three: This seiyuu wrote some the lyrics, including the rap portion (!), for a full-length image CD for one of his best-known characters. The CD performed very well on the Oricon weekly charts. And the bonus disc that came with the CD features him in character giving Kansai-ben lessons!
