Looking for cheaper ways to get to the con? Here are some Web sites that can help you find a cheaper way to fly. (Drivers and riders can find ride share information on the Yaoi-Con Chat mailing list.

Web Travel Sites for Cheaper Airfare

If it were us, we'd start with Qixo and search a broad range of sites on our preferred travel days — just to get an idea of general fares. Then we'd use Travelocity's Best Fare Finder or Expedia's Fare Calendar to see if juggling the schedule would do better. Finally, we'd visit the Priceline Bidding Forum to get an idea if Priceline would be worth the hassle. After that, we'd be so tired we'd have to take a doujinshi break!

Main Street

Main Street. 5th Avenue. These are the big, well known, 24kt reputation online travels Web sites:

Expedia.com (use the Fare Calendar for better info)
Travelocity.com
(use the Best Fare Finder for better info)
Orbitz

Back Roads

When you shop the side streets and alleys, you can sometimes find unrecognized treasures. Other times, you do it just to avoid all the uptown glamour on Main Street. Less well known travel sites:

Lowestfare.com —Lots of good cheap tickets

Discount travel agencies (take the same precautions you would with any unknown travel agency):

1travel.com
Airdeals.com

The Bazaar

If you love the hunt, the haggling, and the melodrama of the open market, the following sites have tickets for auction. Try Priceline and Cheaptickets, the big names, before hitting the others. As with any auction, do your research first!

Priceline.com —Their "you've got a X% chance of getting that flight, you might want to raise your prices" usually bumps you up close to the price you'd pay directly!
    www.ezboard.com
—A site for Priceline veterans to talk about their experiences, including some excellent travel tips! The moderator also helps with advice and plan of attacks.
    Cheaptickets.com —Mostly cheaper tickets
    Skyauction.com

Discount Outlets

Some shoppers have to see every single store before they buy a single thing. There's something deliciously satisfying about knowing that you got the very lowest of the low fares. These sites offer searches across multiple sites for cheap tickets.

Qixo.com
FareChase.com

Library

Coupons

Everyone loves a bargain. Did you know that S&H Green Stamps are making a comeback? You can get miles for points from various credit card companies.

Convenience Stores

You know, the places that are open all night —even at midnight on Sunday —when you have to satisfy that craving for pizza and ice cream? Only problem is, everyone had the same idea, and all the store has left is breath mints. For last minute shopping (less than 14 days till you leave), check out:

Lastminutetravel.com
Hotwire.com
SmarterLiving.com

If you're searching here, you might want to consider Amtrak, Greyhound, Trailways . . . .
