Panel Volunteer 2 Years, 4 Months ago
Hey, I just wanted to let you know that I've done panels on making comics at various other cons, and I'd be willing to help out with one at yaoicon if you need someone. I know you guys always have a superstar mangaka as a GOH, but even if it's a comic jam, a mini-comic workshop, or something else like that, I'd be more than happy to run one.

I'm also a comic scholar (have my BFA in Comic Art), so if you want someone to talk about the state of the comic/manga industry in the US, I also have papers I've written about that, or could host a panel about it.

resume is available on my website. http://www.chibitoaster.com

I graduated from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. SCAD also has a "Sequential Art" program, but I talked to Scott McCloud, and he recommended MCAD.

I really made a drastic improvement every year I was there.

You can see a couple of my pages in the art pimping section. ^_^

Well, I'm already rather good from just teaching myself and paying attention to what the really GOOD mangaka do...but...there is always room for getting better and shit. ^^ Unfortunately I can only go to school wherever my parents live becuase the government doesn't give me enough money to go to school AND live on my own without getting a job on the side and I am NOT going to do that quite yet....I don't THINK I will anyways...~~ I was actually thinking of maybe going to school in Alaska, they had a NICE art department in the university of Alaska Fairbanks when I was up there...and hell, if the art programs in the highschools were anything like the ones in the the universities...then that's good enough for me...besides...they only require one math class if you're going for a BFA....and that'd be covered already by the manditory classes I took in the military.

Sounds like you need to apply for a panel or two (or three):

Man, I've seriously been looking at the wrong colleges.

Also, I'm not really one for panels, but I'd definitely try to check it out if you got this kind of panel going. I do independent comics, so I'm always looking for new feedback, techniques, etc.
