As far as I know, that's probably the reason for the law change in California. There were several instances of kids getting shot when playing with Airsoft guns at night because the weapons looked realistic enough and the kids didn't know to immediately drop the guns when the cops shined flashlights on them.

Oh no. Oh no, oh no.

Is there no way around it by applying for, say, (7) or (10)? This might sound a little harsh, but we'll be coming from Denmark, using all our summer holiday and quite a lot of money in order to go, and if we can't even bring all of our costumes... then we need to talk over dinner.

(And no, it's not that I think the con stands and falls with our presence *g*, but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who would rather see an exception.)

I can tell you right now that those permits are ridiculously expensive. They're basically geared towards events that number in the tens of thousands.
