... Fan Market sold out in less than a week. 1 Year, 4 Months ago

I'm really extremely upset about this... I was checking regularily to get a table, and I came back and it was gone.
The best part is I tried last year to get a table, and the year before that, and somehow I am always out of luck.
I was very upset, because everyone snatched up the tables last minute so quickly and pounced on it so fast I was unable to even get a chance.
I signed up on the waiting list but I really am not happy, because despite all this, I have always wanted to get a table at Yaoi Con.
It was the first con I wanted a table at, and now, it's the ONLY con in this area I HAVEN'T gotten a table at.
Yaoi con inspired me to start getting tables, and at every con, I dream of getting a table at Yaoi Con.
I'm not the only one, and I recognize that, which is why I signed up, posted a forum topic and tried to jump on it.
I am so extremely upset... because I inspired my girlfriend who has never sold at a table to sell at Yaoi Con. We have a long distance relationship and I told her I definately think it would be worth it even though we only see each other about three times a year to get a table.
The idea of a table had always been scary to her, but she said I inspired her to get one, that she didn't mind so much now.
I totally feel like I failed her because I missed out on the chance to get the table, but it was only for apparently less than a week...
less than a week is not a lot of time by any standards.
less than a week for YAOI CON is ..... like a half a second to someone like me....
I will just hold my breath and hope to god someone with a table decides they don't need it.
I am just... really... not ... pleasantly happy.

I'm sorry...
That sucks that this is the 3rd year you couldn't get the table you wanted.
I'm in the same boat this year though. been watching for 6 months, but this week I'm moving back to the states from Japan, had no internet for a week, and that's the week the tables went up. (Not that my check ever would have made it overseas in time.) I'm out of luck too.
I think there are quite a few of us with the same feeling. It's really too bad.

It's absolutely stunning--no word on the Fan Market info being updated where I usually get my Ycon news (the LJ comm), apparently broken links to the forms were fixed on Tuesday. I put my application in the mail on Tuesday afternoon and it's sold out by Wednesday?? O_O
There must be SOME way to wrangle up more room. I can't believe this. All the people I know in the artist alley circuit are in the same situation. This is unbelievable.

We're all frustrated, and feel bad, but we can't really blame Yaoi con either. they're trying to be fair, and let first calls get spots. It just seems frustrating as there isn't enough room to satisfy demand. (especially for those of us who really wanted and planned on it, yet somehow missed the chance.) I think it's a note for next year. More room needed for artists! Make tables more pricy, but more available, so only serious people sign up, and there are enough for everyone who really wants one.
^_^
Each year a con goes on is experience for the next! Right?

Oh no, I completely understand that the coordinators are doing the best they can. I'm a little flabbergasted, but I suppose all this means is that I need to try and stay ahead of the game next year. That, and I figured bigger hotel = more room ^_^;; Of course, that could still be the case, and all the alotted space filled up in an unprecedented short amount of time regardless.
I wonder if wrangling up another room, and perhaps allowing an appropriate number of registered artists who got their forms in to provide for their own tables/sitting arrangements, isn't a completely unfeasible idea..? I could be reaching on the wording in the fan market arrangement description, but it sounds as if the space alotted to the fan market, at least, isn't set in stone yet (if not tables, which I imagine are in much shorter supply than available floorspace).
EDIT: Okay, sounds very much like it's not really feasible at all. They're trying super hard to sort through space for the market, but it doesn't sound like any additional space is going to work out.
