Was Malcolm Arnold related to David Arnold?
I love David's stuff; Stargate and Independence Day are still some of my favorite soundtracks. And I really wish 4 July fireworks coordinators would realize how patriotic the ID:4 OST is, considering they use stuff like 1812 all the time that's great and all but is really about Napoleon's army fleeing Moscow, but I digress.
I'm not as obsessed with OSTs as I once was, but I do love them and have a sizable collection, mostly from scifi movies. Some of my anime faves are Mushishi and Symphony Seed, which is Gundam Seed themes performed by the London Symphony. But Akira still takes the cake. Geinoh Yamashirogumi is god.
Aside: HeeroJF, your name sounds familiar. Do I know you from somewhere, say GWA? (Experimental=RedCancer)
Apparently, no, there's no relation between the two Arnolds. Yes, Stargate and ID4 was also among my favourites. But I think I like Godzilla and The Musketeer even more. For different reasons of course, but they're both so spectacular.
I *still* don't have Akira to this day!! I really should seek it out. And I don't have the Gundam Seed ones you mention, either. I just love Kou Ootani's work on GundamWing though (and Outlaw Star).
Wow, GWA? GundamW Addiction? Wow that was a long time ago! Let's see, what was your name on there? I was indeed very deeply involved with that community for a while. But I -think- cosplay.com is when I used the name "HeeroJF" for the first time.
