Thanks to all those who submitted their lovely artwork for the 6th year celebration. We received 27 wonderful pieces and it was *very* difficult to have to choose only 12 of them for the opening ceremonies presentation, but the Yaoi-Con staff persevered and now we can announce the entrants whose work will be shown as part of our 6th annual Convention Opening Ceremonies:

We're looking for art submissions for a special presentation to be shown at Yaoi-Con's 2006 Opening Ceremonies!

The criteria:

- Artwork must feature one or more lovely men
- Artwork must have the number "6" featured prominently
- Artwork can be monochromatic/b&w or full color
- Artwork must be a minimum 10 inches wide (or 3000 pixels wide), and a minimum of 300 DPI if digital or scanned
(11x8.5 inches, landscape orientation preferred)
- Artwork can be rendered in digital or traditional media (high resolution scanned/printed copies accepted)
- Artwork *cannot* portray any sexual act, or feature full frontal nudity. Discreetly covered genitalia is acceptable.

The staff will select what we feel are the best representations and include them in the special presentation. All submissions which fall into the above criteria will also be featured in a special display in the convention area during the con.

Yaoi-Con reserves the right to refuse submission of any work.

This sounds like a VERY nifty art contest ^^ However...it is....well...you give us all these rulles and you don't tell us WHY you're running the contest ....I mean...to me...the reason behind the contest is just as important as the contest itself....if I don't know to what end my artwork is giong to be used, I can't get inspired as eassilly as if...say I was asked to draw a picture of the most beautiful guy I have ever seen for a possible cash reward.

May I ask WHY you want pictures like this? OO?

Read the first line of the announcement again. It's fairly clear.

And it is not a contest -- at least not one with any prizes. The ones that we pick to most suit the theme of the presentation will make it into the presentation, to be viewed by all present at the Opening Ceremonies.

And all entries that fit within the criteria as posted in the announcement will also be on display at the con.

Yeah...I just NOW realized my error ....~~ This is what happens when you force me to sit down all day long and do things I don't like to do...such as MATH...I go brain dead...~~ Blah....its probably all the monthly councellings I had to do that made me miss that ....~Falls over from blushing in embarassment too much~

Hmmm? I guess it would be considered a "Sexual Act" If two men are simply trying to jump over each other, but it looks like they're humpin (Even though one of them is still weraing pants)....right? Or if one naked man, with "Discreatly covered genitalia" is climbing all over another fully clothed man...right?

I don't want to give away the detail of my picture ~Hides it~ Cause someone might copy me! But I think I might be border line with the innocet....how shall we say it....playing that is going on in the picture....~~

Hey, in the criteria listed, it said:

I am a bit confused. Wouldn't landscape oriented be 11x8.5 inches? And are you saying that you want the pieces all to be wider than they are tall? Or are you simply saying that you would like them to be sent to you in horizontal format, even if the picture itself is taller than it is wide?

I guess I am more than just a bit confused. Are you saying that if we do it in traditional media, like pen or paint, etc., that you do not want us to exceed the 8x11.5 inch size of the actual piece? Should the paper I use for my drawing not be any bigger than that? Or is that just the size you want us to shrink it to before emailing it off to you?

Also, is there a file size limit on these pieces sent online, like not to exceed a certain amount of MBs? I know that when we shrink the pic to JPG or TIFF format it will shrink and probable not exceed any KB size, but still, if there is a size limit I would like to know.

I'm sorry for being so dense. I hope you can help clear these things up for me.
