Yaoi-Con 2008 | A Celebration of Male Beauty & Passion in Anime & Manga

Has anyone seen Descendants of Darkness? I have read reviews and it seems pretty good. There is mild yaoi content as well. There is a cool music video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muZnpftdzkc that I think many of you fangirls and fanguys will find hot. It does contain male nudity and liplocking. I just want to know if anyone in this forum has a personal review of this anime.

Descendants of Darkness is the American name for Yami no Matsuei. It's sorta like a shounen-ai-ish short version of Bleach.. only without the swords.. just the ideaology. It's okay, I enjoyed it. It's not as catchy and overpowering as say, Loveless or something, but it definately makes you move in your seat with dulled shounen-ai thoughts.

Wow Leha you truly are a connoisseur of yaoi. Your Avatar is hot to boot. I feel I have a lot to learn from you ^_^ being this is all still relatively new to me. I've been hearing alot about ....well seeing a lot of typing about Loveless. Perhaps I will give it a try. I am still pretty old school when it comes to anime. I have only finished...ahem: Sailormoon(my first),Akira, DBZ, Mononoke, Gundam Seed, Gundam Wing, Inuyasha and parts of Fruits Basket. Some of them do have Yaoi overtures (which are great for fanfics) but none are actually yaoi geared (yes I know the japanese version of Sailormoon has yuri/yaoi couples).

I know it is a matter of opinion about which animes are worth it and which aren't but your the expert Oh yeah...and on a confession...well more like a joke...I seen Sailorballz 1 and 2 *hides* So don't tell me there isn't crap anime heh.

Yami no Matsuei (or descendents of darkness in english) is one of the best series around. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it, and if you're looking to watch (and/or read) it, I highly suggest you do.

The manga is a little more explicit than the anime and has more info as well. The anime itself is very good, but if you want more content, then the manga is a bit better.

Yami itself isn't yaoi (it's implied shounen-ai), but it falls under the "yaoi" category, partly due to its doujinshi section.

Yah, I saw the anime first and the manga second and would say the manga is a little better just for the richness (except for the Nagasaki arc; the anime is my canon where that's concerned). Plus characters like Terazuma and Wakaba who are awesome in their own right don't get much time in the anime. (I think Terazuma appears as the back of a head in the last episode.)

If you get the English translation, though, be warned: it is edited. It drives me absolutely nuts. The Saint Michel arc (private, Catholic all-boys school, very illicit activities, very hot [my personal fave]) has its most graphic page censored (anal: OK, splitting someone's head like a watermelon: also OK, fellatio: NG, apparently; wtf) and the dialog mangled beyond repair horrific, horrific job. . . . BUT in general an awesomely detailed series, both visually and characterization/content-wise.

PS (can you tell this is really rushed?) Seed rocks. Woo! Go Waltfeld!

The manga is so beautifully drawn, I love that series!!!
