Here's the guidelines we have up on the site:

Please limit items for sale to new or used commercial items only (imported doujinshi are acceptable).

NOTE: Live pornography, anime/music/scanlations made into VCD/DVD/CD, photocopies of manga or doujinshi are not allowed to be sold. Yaoi-Con reserves the right to have our staff ask participants to remove items considered not suitable for sale at the Swap Meet.

Yeah, I read that and I read it on the main page, but I still just can't wrap my head around it. Does that mean all of my Chinese and Japanese books are out of the question? Even though I bought them here? I mean, they're in foreign language, so that *had* to have been imported at some point.. right? Perhaps more clarification on the books would be nice.

Gomennasai if it is posted somewhere and I have completely missed it.

Why does the Swap Meet even require tables? Why can't it just be held in some designated location, and we can just wander in with our stuff and start swaping & selling?

Because we'd like to prevent utter chaos. On Friday evenings we have a limited amount of physical space available for the convention. The swap meet location -- the main hallway outside the Dealers' Room -- is convenient for us and attendees and is a space we can readily control access to (as in, prevent non-attendees from wandering). Because the space is a hallway, if we let folks just put stuff down on the floor, we'd run the risk of a fire hazard (no walking space). The tables allow sellers to more easily show off their stuff and keep the flow of traffic out of the middle of the hallway.

Those books would fall under the realm of commercial goods. People frequently sell their used Japanese manga at the swap meet.

(and sorry for the slow reply -- I never received notification that you had posted a response).
