Yes, but it goes rather far north << I'm not sure if you can get down to SF from the train station up there, but check out the train staions near SF and see if they have a bart trian staition near the Amtrac station. Amtrac WAS rather good when I was in Cali...but...they were getting a bit retarded with their prices.
