Depends on where you are in SOcali, and how long you're willing to travel. I wouldn't go buy grayhound, their buses are nasty (atleast the ones from San Diego to Oceanside were <<. The trinas aren't bad at all, but it depends on which ones you take. They should have trains going all the way to SF but that's mighty slow travel...
