I can say, first-hand, that Yaoi-con brings out that social butterfly that you never had in you. I know, also, that people from Y-con would never on their silliest days call me 'shy' or 'demure.' I guess there's something about going up in front of a crowd of a couple hundred in frilly panties that somewhat precludes that.
The thing is that, in all seriousness, I am! Despite that, though, totally separate from the fact that I'm one of those luckyish people who adopts a performance mentality when on stage, I am overly comfortable with the overwhelming majority of the people at Y-con. I can talk, laugh, be myself, and not have to worry about being politically correct for the benefit of the crowd, all of which puts that generally superior to most company. I was just doubly lucky in that I managed to find a compatible partner at this same con (Or, more accurately, she found me. I wasn't looking until I knew that I was being looked for, but I'm glad I did).

Congrats to you Kitty.
All I can basically say is that there are some individuals(regardless of gender)that can be boisterous and just "out there". Some can be terribly obnoxious(and I don't find that a truly special trait).
I'm sure I'll feel comfortable here. When in company(that happens to enjoy the same genre of entertainment as I do)I do open up more.
Were you serious about the "Frilly undergarments"? I can only imagine how that must look.
"Politically Correct" and "conformists", butt heads with me constantly. I may be quiet and reserved...but when one challenges me on the basis of what is the "norm" and what is "taboo"...as my profile states on Myspace...
"Don't worry...I don't bite....I just shred".
